IT Service Assurance is a new way to look at enterprise level monitoring of IT infrastructure, related applications and databases and the management tools used to manage these silos. Generally, this category of software provides the ability to monitor the health of systems, networks and to correlate IT events with the potential impact on related systems, determine root causes and ensure service levels are still met. The net benefit of these tools is not simply providing another monitoring dashboard for IT management, but rather to offer real visibility into the overall health of IT, it's ability to support the business and an opportunity to pinpoint problems and resolve them much quicker (with less finger pointing).

CA Spectrum Service Assurance
There are generally three silos of Service Assurance products: Network, Applications, Infrastructure (server). In addition, vendors are now moving to offer an overarching Service Operations backbone which provides a higher level view of the previous management disciplines as well as subscribing to events generated outside of the other monitoring and Service Assurance categories. For example Workload Automation tools through a defined service model can push up events occurring in the WA environment which can be correlated with what application performance monitoring tools are seeing related to the same IT assets. CA Spectrum Service Assurance provides the high level view as well as the integration backbone to the other SA and external infrastructure tools.
